Ranger’s Awards and Titles

Ranger is spending the rest of the summer at cow camp learning the ropes on how to be a cow dog.

I thank Tori Earls and Justin Starnes at J Cross Catahoulas for allowing Ranger to come join my family.

Ranger was named primarily for my grandfather who served in the European theater of WWII with the 101st Airborne.

My hope for Ranger is to not only be a great varmint dog, like his predecessors, but to be my personal protection dog. He is doing well in his basic obedience, and will start protection work when he is older.  He is intelligent and a quick learner, though at times he can lack focus. Ranger has a high prey drive, huge amounts of ball drive, and desire to please me. I am looking forward to many years of fun and excitement with this little guy. He’s a really fun dog with a laid back personality, but is always right there when I need him.

Ranger is a very vocal and intense tree dog. He has a loud, sharp, rapid-fire voice that is getting deeper as he gets older. His style of treeing makes him the anchor of my treeing pair. He is a leggy dog with excellent conformation. He is built for speed, but still has enough size and strength to be a powerful dog.

Ranger completed his UKC Champion title with a Best of Breed win on April 18, 2009 at the age of 9 months, 3 days. He went on to get a Group 4 of 8 breeds in the Herding Group.

Ranger earned his UKC United Weight Puller title on December 13, 2009, two days short of 17 months

Ranger earned his UKC Conformation Grand Champion title at the UKC Premier on July 11, 2010.

Ranger has 30 Champion points in UKC Weight Pull, as well as 5 points and one first place toward his NALC Tree Dog Champion title.

This young dog never ceases to amaze me with his ability and enthusiasm to try whatever I ask him to do.
