I am a small breeder located in west Michigan. I’ve owned Catahoulas since 1996. After many years showing in UKC I became an NALC Certified Breeder in the summer of 2009.
I believe in breeding the best working dogs possible. This means dogs that are structurally sound, well-tempered, and have intense working instinct and drive. As the Catahoula is known for what it can do it is my opinion that any Catahoula that cannot perform the breed’s functions should not be bred.
My dogs are regular competitors in UKC, NWDA, and NALC. My dogs have been ranked in UKC’s Top Ten Conformation for the breed, NWDA weight pull, CHDA A-Bay, and NALC Obedience, Treeing, and B-Bay. They are my personal companions and varmint control at my home, especially raccoons. I am currently branching out into different performance venues with each dog focusing on its strengths, demonstrating the breed’s versatility.
My name, Sisu, comes from the Finnish word that best translates as “guts”. It’s more than that, however. It’s strength of will, tenacity, determination, perseverance, and acting rationally in the face of adversity. It’s part of who I am and, after years of watching my dogs never give up when I ask them to do something, I realized it was part of them, too.
Sisu Catahoulas does not offer stud service to the public.
